What is UI UX

Wiki Page: UI UX

Behind every successful website there is a User Experience and User interface designer. User Experience and User interface, or more commonly known as UX/UI are more often than not, lays a strong foundation for the website. It is one of the most important aspect of a product, but it is often overlooked. First of all, let’s break down what UX does and what UI does.

User Experience (UX) is the process of enhancing user satisfaction with a product by focusing on the usability, accessibility and pleasure in the interaction of the product. Simply put, UX design is the skeleton of your product. UX is one of the most important aspect of your product, but it is often overshadowed by visual design, which is User Interface. Part of a UX designer job is to interview clients to learn about their company and what they want in their product. By doing so, you will be able to grasp the structure of the website, content and their targeted audience.

Once you understand all that, you will be able focus on the primary objective, the targeted audience. The way that our UX team does that is by creating personas after researching and understanding the clients targeted audience. Personas are representations of different types of users who will be using your product. They mainly answer the million dollar question “who are we designing the product for”. When you know which types of Personas will be using the product, it helps separate the different needs of users and you will be able to figure out what you need in order meet the definition of UX, which is to provide the best possible experience which will meet all the needs of the users.
After laying down the path for the product, here is where User Interface (UI) designers come in. UI designers are here to make sure that the UI stays on the same path that the UX designers laid down.  Simply put, UI is the skin for the skeleton. For instance, a UI designer will decide if it’s better to have a slide show or a banner there, which of these 2 will make the most sense or decide if they want to put an important graph with information at the front page. They are also responsible to making sure that the style of the product is consistent throughout.

WeChat Official Account Differences and User Experience

WeChat launched a new type of official account in this year 2017. That confused many English speakers because they don’t understand differences. If they don’t understand the official account, that will be tough to do WeChat Marketing.

WeChat has four different official Account

WeChat subscription account. The most general account from WeChat. Most people like to register WeChat subscription account because the account broadcast 1 time per day to attract readers. However, after Tencent moved subscription account all in one place like a contact. Only those high value subscription account can be survived in users’ phone.

WeChat Service account. WeChat service account has bottom menu, payment gateway, and advanced API. The general purpose of WeChat service account is making seller to sell products in WeChat. However, the social media is not a platform for selling products. WeChat cannot create miracle as well. Some people may says guys are selling billions of products in WeChat, but not service account. Those people are just doing MLM in WeChat, not really a eCommerce. Like other MLM tough to earn money after 3 years.

WeChat Business Account. For company internal staff using only. Unless you are verified staff of the account owner, you cannot follow or read the information of the account. That’s useless. Western culture is different from China. In China, staff will use personal WeChat to do company things, but western people will think it’s break their privacy. They will use WeChat but they will never use WeChat to follow company official account.

WeChat App Account. The latest account from Tencent. WeChat CTO said this account can make user load APP without install it. That’s fantastic for people in China using Android without Google Play. However, Apple will stop this kinds of thing happened because that will drive users all go to Tencent official account to replace Apple store. They will build some barriers to stop App to load in demo server. People says WeChat App Account is another gold mine. Sorry that’s a disaster and will make Tencent became the biggest loser in the International market. That’s the reason of App Account only under beta testing in China.

Conclusion

Social Media is not place to “sell”, it’s a place to do marketing. Sell and Marketing is not the same thing. Facebook, WeChat they are all same just UI is different.

Consider these Variables Before you Conduct a UX Research Method

User experience or UI design research main objective is to design with the end- user in mind, who the end- user is, where would they use the products or services offered and what products or services will they be needing.

The UX research method can play an important role in website, system and application developing because these methods focus on interpreting users behavior, needs and motives. Below are the examples of UX research method that can be useful for you:

Card Sorting: the goal of card sorting is to perceive the order of rankings that a user deems most important. In this method, a user can be provided with a set of tags or categories for him to rank or the user can also provide the categories himself.

Contextual Interview: this type of method can give a point- on and more realistic results on where the designer can directly ask or listen to how the user feels or thinks about the website.

First Click Test: can be performed on an actual website, a prototype or a wireframe. In this method, a user is asked to complete a task and what the user would click on first can determine the success and navigation of your website.

Focus Group: the focus group method involves about 5 – 10 participants in where a discussion about the participant’s opinion, perspectives, wants and responses to different categories.

Online Surveys: can vary in length and format depending on the focus of the survey. This method is basically an organized set of questionnaires. This method is used when a project has a large and diverse type of users and a far higher response rate in a minimal amount of time requirement.

Usability Test: a method where a certain product or service is given to a participant for him to evaluate and identify usability problems. This method can be done on an actual website or application, a prototype or on pen and paper.

System Usability Scale (SUS): allows a ux designer to evaluate a wide variety of products and services where a 10-item survey with five response options (strongly agree to strongly disagree) is given to participants.
